- Only 1 in 3 Arizona voters with disabilities participated in the 2000 election.
- Arizona ranked 51st in level of voter participation among disabled voters.
- U.S. General Accounting Office in 2001 found 84% of the polling places limit access for people with Disabilities.
Voter registration Qualifications
Every resident of the state is qualified to register to vote if he/she:
- Is a citizen of the United States.
- Will be eighteen years of age or more on or before the next general election.
- Will be a resident of the state twenty-nine days next preceding the election.
- Is able to write his/her name or make his/her mark, unless prevented from so doing by physical disability.
- Has not been convicted of treason or a felony, unless restored to civil rights.
- Has not been adjudicated an incapacitated person as defined in A.R.S. Sec. 14-5101.
Voting Early by Mail
Registered voters can request an early ballot for the General Election on line at http://recorder.maricopa.gov, but it must be requested no later than October 22nd.
